Lupus Lies

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

The Lupus Magazine and the cast and crew of the film “Love Simple” are searching for the most creative “Lupus Lies” during the month of August in a contest that will award the five best “lies” a free copy of the film and an opportunity to share their “lie” and its repercussions on the magazine’s website.

In the film “Love Simple,” the lead character Seta, who battles lupus, lies about her disease and why she is reluctant to further her relationship with potential boyfriend Adam. Seta’s “Lupus Lie” was: “I’m seeing somebody else!”

LOVE Simple

Love Simple, a comedy/romance is celebrating its launch on iTunes by working with the SLE Lupus Foundation to raise money for lupus research and awareness. For the week of June 14-21, 30% of the film’s iTunes proceeds will go to the foundation. Hailed by Variety as an “engaging neighborhood pic…with genuine flair and wit,” Love Simple is a coming-of-age romance whose lead female character suffers from lupus.

The depiction of a lupus sufferer is rare in film (we can’t find another!) and Love Simple stars NYC actress Patrizia Hernandez, and Caitlin Fitzgerald from It’s Complicated.

Guidelines for Cardiovascular Health for Women with LUPUS

Friday, February 5th, 2010

One of my greatest fear is that one day LUPUS would affect my heart. My lungs have already been affected that’s why there are days that I have a hard time breathing. When I lay down in bed, I experienced a minute or two of having to catch my breath plus my shoulder blades are so painful. Sign of pneumonia or fleurisy. That’s why right now I am eating right and doing some exercise. I am scared that my weight would be a big factor for me to have a heart disease. So I am gland when I read some do’s and dont’s for LUPUS patient.

Sticking to your Exercise Routine

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Since I have written here that for 2010, I plan to lose weight the healthy way and that is by exercising, I found this article from LFA.

Almost everywhere you look, there are signs telling you to exercise — from infomercials featuring swimsuit models to newspaper articles about the risks of being a couch potato.

Sorting through the myriad of exercise options can be daunting for anyone. But it can be especially daunting for people with systemic lupus—many of whom experience joint pain, fatigue, fevers and other symptoms.

Another LUPUS resource

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

First, I would like to say thank you and sorry to the one who left a comment about a site of a woman with lupus. Thank you because I found the site interesting and would greatly help people with LUPUS and sorry because the comment was considered a spam and sometimes my finger are faster that my eyes and mind. I caught a glimpse of the site but unfortunately I already clicked on the Delete All spam button before I realized that the comment was not spam. Fortunately though I was able to remember the name of the site. Through trial and error I was able to find it.

We just could not shrugged of the idea that she might have dengue depsite the fact that she has no rashes and every day I always apply an insect repellant lotion to her body parts. And so one day I was not surprised when my sister handed me a printout of an email that came from their office. At that time we are still clueless on how to free anevay from her fever. The email is about PAPAYA LEAVES being a cure for dengue.
